In my opinion , this is absolutely right. The twentieth century is the age of knowledge. Knowledge means power and technology means progress. Only by mastering knowledge and obtaining certain technologies can we build up a powerful country. Moreover, those who possess knowledge and techniques will have the best future. Therefore, fostering students’ abilities of practical application, rather than instilling of abstract and superficial knowledge, should be the major aim of modern education, for it will help to fulfill the needs of society and international development.

This is also the way all other advanced countries take. They have created a vivid, lively and rich classroom atmosphere, which makes it easier for students to access and exploit knowledge. Furthermore, some universities have even set up Off-Campus Practical Education Centers. Obviously, students learning in this kind of units are facing the best they can get, so they can succeed not only in resolving problems but also in applying professional knowledge to practical work. On the contrary, the old-fashioned education ignores the actual needs of society and can only produce talent who are good at discussing knowledge, but lack experience in life.

Admittedly, abstract and handy knowledge is indispensable. It provides the foundation on which practical activities depends. Nevertheless, possess knowledge is not same as be able to use it.
