Little Grown Up
One summer vacation I went to my grandmother’s home. During my stay there, I was amazed to see how much my little cousin had grown up.
Just a year ago, he was still a very small child who needed protection from everyone. But now, he was able to take care of himself and even help out with some of the household chores. He would sweep the floor with his little wooden broom and water the plants in the backyard. I was curious to know how he had become so grown up and capable.
When I asked about his transformation, I was told that my grandmother had taught him many skills. Everyday, she would give him some task that would help him understand how the world works and what he can do to make his own contribution to it. She would also tell him stories of great people and their feats of courage and wisdom.
My little cousin had also picked up some habits which would not only help him in his day-to-day life but also put him ahead others. He had started reading books and newspapers, developing a love for music, playing sports and networking with different kinds of people. He was also quite religious and took the time out to thank God for all the blessings in his life.
I was utterly amazed to see a young boy so grown up and so ready to take on the world. It truly was an inspiring sight.
